I mean REALLY? Front page? Anywhere in the paper for that matter. We are in a war costing more than what it would take to solve health care AND education funding in months…and PARIS HILTON? REALLY? NYTimes/National Enquirer FRONT PAGE. Now THAT got my blood pumping this morning.

And the look of the “fans” in this pic…..excited WHY? Please–somebody tell me what I’m missing. Is this news? Is this a person who is contributing to the wellness of the planet? An idol? Mentor? Role model? Does she have an education? What does she DO with all that privilege….wealth..spotlight. Pleeeeze people—we can do better. Suburban Boys, Strippers and Hummers

Seems like a ranting day. Pardon me for a moment. Paris Hilton put me over the edge. Front page of the reputable(?) New York Times. I am scared today. Scared for the shallow apathy encroaching on my world. First Paris Hilton then this. I’ve lived for thew past decade in a part of a urban city neighborhood where I have been proud to be part of of the interesting diversity in both people and environment. We are being gentrafied……pushed around by greedy developers and short sighted arrogant crooks sucking in the suburban brats with their SUVs, backwards baseball caps and wanna be hip hopper gear. They woot through the neigborhood at 2am like frat boys and soroity sisters that just finished filming Girls Gone Wild. Throwing beer bottles, cups and an occasional cash card on our lawns and streets. Macho boys and dippy girls screaming as if they had something to say other than affirming their low IQ’s and mommy/daddy bank accounts. Go back to the suburb, kids and leave us alone. Take back your suburban apartments you are calling lofts, urban wannabes, greedy developers and leave us alone.

Here’s a couple pictures I shot while sitting at a light 2 weekends ago. It was 4:30 in the afternoon and these two were SMASHED. She actually stood up on the seat and very slowly shook her ass in the air like she was still on stage in the strip club, sat down and wrapped her legs around this losers face–yes–FACE like she was still doing the lapdance. Meth madness…..and headed toward Uptown. “Please God” I said to myself as they neared the highway entrance–”not uptown”. Happily they disappeared in my rear view mirror.

So I’m at a Dunn Brothers coffeeshop right now doing some late night work and this older guy sitting at the table next to me is totally looking at porn.

Seriously. Come on. The attempt to cover up what you’re looking at is not accomplished by sort of tilting your monitor towards yourself.

And to make it worse, there’s a child of under 10 at the table next to him.

Does anyone else think this is inappropriate?

And by the way, I’ve loved every stare at ME about the enormous title of my blog post as I’m posting this. The looks say, “WHAT are you thinking!” It’s all because of that one word jumping out: porn.

Pop Top From Hell

I’m a young ex-athlete trying desperately to get into my wee 10oz bottle of ginger all. The top off the bottle is impossible to open. NOTE to product designers: you have an aging, beat up-from-an over-active-lifestle-baby-boomer population that won’t buy products they can’t open. Things to consider: Diameter of the lid vs grip strength, repectfully considering old injuries and arthritus. They don’t know it yet but the gamers will be falling into the same category on day with those champion thumbs. Thumbs down to current consumer product design.

I get that gag feeling in my throat when I look at this. I got it a few months ago in Twin Lakes Wisconsin at a Ben Franklin that was closing after forever years.

This lovely artifact has been on the shelf as long as the store has been open. A museum of bad taste and bad design history, I love shopping at these old stores in small towns. Frozen in time. What were they thinking.

United Airlines Flight Attendants MUST Wear Heels

Every summer I get up the courage to work at the Minnesota State Fair selling European comfort shoes (Dansko, Birkenstock, Privo, Merrell, etc.). Of course I work there because I get a great discount, so I’ll suffer through the intense heat and crowds of the Grandstand.

I also get the opportunity to meet a lot of people from Minnesota and other places. Yesterday, I met a woman who works as a flight attendant for United Airlines. She was very interested in the Dansko Professional Clog (possibly the best shoe ever made to work long hours in), however, she told me that as an employee of United Airlines, she IS NOT ALLOWED to wear anything but heels.

Note the second sentence: “Since that time, the face of the profession has evolved and changed….” They must be referring to the fact that they now call stewardesses “Flight Attendants” and that they allow men to be included in the term “Flight Attendant.”

WHAT were they thinking. It’s 2006, United. Get with it.

Holy eyesore Batman! Grant Park Minneapolis

Who on the city council/city plannning board is getting paid off for this one? Come on people….it’s our skyline! WTF. WHAT were they thinking? I can’t believe this got approved. Can it be more ugly and hideous? Like a bully on the once beautiful skyline of Minneapolis, this monster blocks the view and disrupts the flawless shape of the city. Like an egotistical arrogant bore this building dominates and interrupts the sculpted beauty of our unique skyline. Like the drunk of the party who needs to be the center of attention, Grant Park Minneapolis refuses to let go of abusing our attention. I feel like I need to take a shower. uggggg.

Give me back my city and STOP IT!
